A novel way to quit smoking: Mobile Smoke Busters

I was looking for something completely different when Mobile Smoke Busters popped up. I checked it out and here's what I found:

Quit Smoking Hypnotherapy

  • To quit smoking, they use hypnosis. Apparently Matt Damon quit smoking using this method.
  • The service is mobile, so either you can head to their Hornsby clinic or they'll come 'round to your place
  • No side effects, but they recommend not driving right after the session because you'd still be too relaxed. Wouldn't mind that sensation from time to time, cigarette smoke or not.
  • What is interesting is that the hypnotherapy used to get you to quit smoking means you don't lose control.

The reviews are good, they have a lifetime guarantee, and the practitioner is NLP certified and is a certified hypnotherapist as well.

Check out the Mobile Smoke Busters site and if you like the idea of hypnotherapy to quit smoking, maybe give it a try.

What are your thoughts? Have you ever thought of hypnotherapy for smoking or any other habit? Tell me all about it in a comment below.

The Basket People - Good things come in large, quality packages

There are a number of hamper companies that have cropped up over the years. It's a good business to be in because putting a basket together yourself (or hundreds of them for corporate gifts) takes a lot of consideration and effort.

While some still prefer to prepare such gifts themselves, there's one company that has been around a long time, and which has mastered the ability to add the same personal touch as if you had put it together yourself.

The Basket People achieve this through careful thought and TLC as to what particulars should feature, in what quantities, and understandable prices. The proof being the uniqueness of various baskets, and also in The Basket People's flexibility. They have a whole section dedicated to allowing you to Include your Products, something that would interest corporate gift idea hunters I thought. Companies could add in samples of stock and leave the rest to the professionals.

They have prepared baskets by occasion: Easter gift baskets, Father's Day gift packs, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day (really, you can add spice to a relationship any day - or pep it up with their Coffee Lovers pack) and of course Christmas - with and without alcohol.

But the real treats I think you'll find is in their Best Seller and 'gifts up to 80% off' sections.

Try these:

It won't take you long to find something that suits your needs. But do try them out. I'm prepared to bet you'll become a repeat customer.

Leave your comment below describing your experience with The Basket People.

Nursing Angel = looking after mother and baby (and fathers) in every way

One of the best things about breastfeeding accessories and stylish maternity wear being available on your computer is that when you're heavily pregnant or caring for your new born - the last thing you really want to do is spend hours plodding around shopping centres picking up those things or baby care essentials.

You spend a lot more time at home especially during the last trimester but also throughout the 9 months. Being pregnant is every bit as wonderful as they say it is - but it's exhausting too.

An Australian online maternity and nursing store that should be bookmarked immediately is Nursing Angel.

Nursing Angel is heavenly and different.

For one thing, they aren't all about product. They provide fantastic, free motherhood resources that answer common parenting questions and address areas of concern such as Blocked Ducts & Mastitis and Working & Breastfeeding. Additionally, they have a blog and a growing Facebook community as well. For resources that are not free but still very affordable, see their Books, CDs and DVDs section, where you can find the true literary gem, "Breastfeeding Sucks" ($15).

Nursing Angel stocks maternity wear, motherhood essentials and accessories, however they specialise in breastfeeding, breast pumps and baby carriers.

Top areas to visit:

Selection of stocked brands:

A word on breast pumps. These can be absolute lifesavers, and one of Nursing Angel's key points of difference is that they offer breast pump hire in Sydney as well as selling them outright. One example is the Medela Symphony Hospital Grade Breast Pump Hire .

There is a lot to explore on Nursing Angel, far too much for this one blog post. Spend some time there now if you don't have the link open already.

The Real Deal on TheRealDeal.com.au

How times have changed.

People have gradually become used to the idea that they can easily save their 10% GST if not much more by shopping online. First they have given it a go with simple, low-risk items. Just like other experiences in life - the first time is the scariest, and then it just comes naturally.

As a result of shoppers having confidence in the system, guarantees from online sellers and so on, more and more online-only shops have cropped up selling items like kitchen and laundry appliances, 3D ready TVs and more that I think even 5-7 years ago no one would have dreamt of purchasing outside of a brick-and-mortar store.

One recent example is TheRealDeal.com.au.

Very new, here are some points I first noticed:

TheRealDeal is worth exploring for big-ticket items as well as smaller personal care or personal use (phones, cameras, tablets, etc). There's as much choice for kitchen and laundry items as there is for high quality audio and visual products.

Check out TheRealDeal.com.au briefly now if you haven't already. They are proudly Australian-owned and operated as well.

What do you think - about the change in shopping habits, and what are your first impressions of TheRealDeal? Leave a comment below

Tap2Table - Amazing party feature

I just came across this awesome drinks dispenser for parties.

You can buy Tap2Table's portable drinks dispenser now from here.

The website says it would work for occasions such as:

  • Cocktail parties
  • At home after work (if that's an occasion!)
  • Dinner entertaining
  • BBQs
  • Pre-drinks
  • Poker nights
  • Family gatherings
  • Sports functions
  • and more

The accessories are sensible - even impressive, as well: removable ice chamber, and check out the light ice cubes - not actual ice, of course.

Tap2Table would, in my opinion make a spectacular centrepiece.

Check out what for sure is the coolest alternative to a jug, a table top drink dispenser to die for: http://tinyurl.com/7b5z62r/97b2

Adore Maternity for babies and mums - much more than I expected

This shop was a terrific find. If you're browsing for baby products online or gorgeous maternity wear (for pregnant or nursing mums) you might want to take a look at Adore Maternity.

Actually I found a lot more than that:

They have a range of soaps, organic baby massage oils, lotions, and washes called Little Innoscents which I think - looking at a few of the product descriptions and organic ingredients - are wonderful,  and (very importantly in Australia) the Babies Only range includes Babies Only Clear Zinc Sunscreen. We know Down Under how much more important it is to keep kids protected from the sun the younger they are, and I'm often amazed how parents in other countries just aren't as concerned.

Lastly, when I checked they also had 50% off some very cute bamboo baby body suits

That's for baby. For mums with newborns on the way there are some surprisingly stylish dresses, and the Sweet Dreams Maternity Sleepwear looked very well priced for the functionality it provides. In fact my only real gripe is that there were only 6 items in the dresses section. Would like to see more of the same.

For mum and baby they stock the Milkbar portable nursing pillow for breastfeeding. So often you'll see one mum leaning forward during feeding time and later complaining of a bad back - this product helps you adjust the height where the child rests so you're more comfortable.

I'd seen it around but if you are thinking about it or anything mummy-baby products better to pick it up from here because Adore Maternity has free shipping available around Australia on most items.

So check it out now while you have a free moment (rare for mums, I know!): Adore Maternity

Fertile Mind - Maternity Fashion and More

I recently came across Fertile Mind, which is an online store that stocks gorgeous maternity wear and a number of essential baby goods items.

Here's what I liked:

There's a lot to check out here and if you're living that short, amazing (and complex) time before your life changes for good - or have friends that are - you should definitely spend some time exploring FertileMind maternity clothes.

Best of luck and please leave a comment below to tell me what from FertileMind maternity wear you would personally recommend to others?

Best thing I ever did for my kids

FINALLY got the kids active and away from the playstation, xbox, wii, foxtel, computer, and all the things that kept them on the couch before. Did it with Little Kickers - it worked like magic (they LOVE it).

Their pitch: "Approved football training for children from 18 months to 7th birthday" - boys and girls, by the way. Highly recommended.

Watch this very cute video as well to see what kind of stuff they get up to in the sessions.

To all my fellow parents (and grandparents too!) - kids need to move, and this is a great way to get them active and having fun (and burning the energy they'd otherwise tear your house down with!). If and when you call up, ask them for the free trial offer - it should still be running.

The one I found is active in QLD: Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

To sum up, Little Kickers = you little beauty!

SABA - Summer style - latest thoughts

Summer is going strong, and summer looks are everywhere.

I recently decided to hop on over to SABA's website to play around and see how they're presenting in that space. I also checked out their facebook page.

So here are my latest thoughts, back to front:

SABA on facebook is a great community and well served by loads of competitions and freebies. For example, when I checked, there was a Likes competition to win one of their must-have Summer bags. I pledge allegiance to no one brand, but I will say SABA bags look fantastic, and along with their shoes are the pick of their accessory range. Recommend becoming part of the fun with a Like. After all, likes are free.

SABA's site is full to the brim. They're talking a lot about SABA elements - eight core building blocks for one's wardrobe. That's from their blog. Check out elements for women, and elements for men. They've done a good job simplifying things to consider for the fashion hopeless, but they are also good reminders for people who know how to dress themselves.

I mentioned Summer, and their Summer stripes are a lovely look. I liked their Willa Stripe dress - the blue is deep and rich and is everything Summer should be about.

One word though in general - be wary during February, which traditionally has the most number of overcast days. A basic tip: be sure to consider how you will look under those light conditions if you're out during the day. Weather is difficult to work towards, but try.

Sticking with the blue/indigo theme, their butterfly maxi dress is also gorgeous.

Their range is, as always, terrific, with jackets and vests for work wear sure to please. Also, if you like one of their new stylish looks (men and women), press 'select all' for a printable 10% voucher to take with you when you head into store.

Too much to talk about, really and I've barely touched on SABA for men. I'll wrap up here, however do check it out.

I liked Motto.com.au

I just received a package in the mail from a new discovery of mine – the Motto online store.  I think this one will become a personal favourite as I love the idea of a fashion line that’s designed and run by women – they just get it!

Run by a mother and daughter team based in Melbourne, Motto sell fabulous Australian made designs and with a gorgeous customer service team to boot.  They have some really great clothes (which are all stretchy and require no ironing), and I have my eye on some of their stretch jersey basics for a future order, as well as some of their more exclusive printed tunics.

The website is cleverly laid out and is very clearly the product of a team of women who love fashion and love giving other women the opportunity to look and feel good.  All of their garments are designed with a woman’s body in mind, so you can be rest assured, every seam, pattern and style, is designed to flatter the female body.  Their concept is all about layering and creating multiple outfits and looks from minimal pieces. The site also has a Key Looks and Magazine section dedicated to showcasing different outfit combinations where you can click to purchase part of, or the whole outfit.

When I signed up for their newsletter they sent me a $20 voucher.  I love to be updated on great new arrivals, and when I used this voucher to place my order, the online team were sending me emails along the way and were always a pleasure to deal with.  When I received my package in the mail it was wrapped in a really beautiful piece of hand picked fabric from their warehouse in Melbourne, which was such a pleasant surprise compared to the usual plastic wrapping or tissue paper.   I couldn’t be happier.

The Face of Social Media Has Changed – Power to the People

Social Media Marketing has changed and for the better. Social Loot is a brand new concept that pays you real cash to refer your friends to your favourite brands using blogs, social media and email. There are 700 businesses in Australia that are part of the program and it seems to be growing at an amazing rate.

It is really simple. Their partner businesses create a campaign outlining a few key messages that they want spread via social media and setup a budget defining how much they are prepared to pay per referral. You sign up for a free account and choose which businesses you want to promote and which of their messages is a good fit for your friends/followers. Everything is tracked and once you have made a few referrals, Social Loot pays you via Paypal. They have a cool video that explains it all. It really makes sense. I know that I have often promoted businesses, which benefits them, but I got nothing and this makes it fair for everyone.

Some of their partner businesses include: Spreets, Roses Only, Cracka Wine and Digi Direct but you can see a full list of Social Loot businesses on their website.

Another cool thing, is that they support a growing list of charities and encourage you (for no fee) to help raise awareness.

You can earn a couple of hundred dollars a month – but be warned that they have a strong ‘NO SPAM’ policy and a lot of checks in place to ensure that you are only promoting businesses that you feel will honestly benefit your friends.

I encourage you to join Social Loot – I did and it genuinely works.
